MYTHS AND QUESTIONS ANSWERS
-
1. Is it possible not to remove the nerve, but just treat it?
Usually, the nerve can be saved if an acute injury occurred, most often at a young age. A doctor can cover a bare nerve with a special medical filling and fix a broken tooth or an artificial restoration into place. The cause of inflammation of the nerve is a bacterium - an infection that enters the pulp chamber from the carious cavity causing pulpitis or its complication - periodontitis. In such cases, nerve removal and root canal treatment are mandatory.
-
2. Why do you need re-treatment of the canals?
Repeated treatment is needed only when the infectious process is outside the root canals (in the bone surrounding the tooth) and the previous treatment has failed. Such process is called periodontitis. Sometimes it can be asymptomatic and not disturbing for the patient. A thorough X-ray examination carried out by an endodontist allows avoiding exacerbations and identifying inflammatory processes in the bone tissue in time.
-
3. Is there any guarantee for endodontic treatment?
A 100% guarantee for endodontic treatment cannot be given, but in our practice, success reaches 85-90% due to the level of specialists, their knowledge, and technical equipment. It saves the patient from the need for complex and expensive treatment in the future.
